Five stars for Shellie Topper, she took the time to help transform my little princess closet. Five stars for the Rafael Gonzalez-Alvarez for installed my closet shelves. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Buyer beware. We bought some additions to our closet system. One of the items, a $400, 24" hamper, was installed but did not work for us. We did not use it and promptly removed it saving all of the hardware. We contacted the store and asked how it could be returned. "It can't, it's custom." It's not. Long story short, they refused to take it back and kept our money. We have challenged it with our Credit Card company, but will likely lose. They do not have a "all sales are final" policy that we were made aware of and none of ... read more

Update: they did eventually finish the job, and they did give us a pretty good discount to make up for the terrible experience. This shows at least some accountability, so I have bumped the rating up.
I would not recommend California Closets to anyone. Their craftsmanship is subpar and they are not willing to correct any defects in their installation. Their designer directed me to purchase a closet organizer that was too short for my clothes. Once installed, my clothes would not hang freely. The bottom of my clothes rested on the shelf below, so my clothes don't hang freely and subsequently have wrinkles at the bottom. Our installer, Juan, did a great job. It's so rare to find a contractor who actually cares whether the job is done well. We feel lucky to have gotten Juan, a true professional and perfectionist.
I live in Queens, NY in an apartment with a lot of new occupants as it's a new development. Cali Closets actually had a dedicated designer for my building (Debra) that we could work with directly. This was really great since Debra was already familiar with the existing finishings provided by the building and the consultation process was pretty quick when she came by. I am beyond happy I got Dana at the Los gatos store because she was such a pleasure to work with. She is very professional, responds to emails within a flash, kept me up to date throughout the process, even came out a second time to do measurements and gave design for an add-on we decided to do last minute. She went the extra mile to make sure our add-on was included in the original installation date.
