I called California closet for a free consultation for a wardrobe I wanted to install in my daughters room. Was trying to decide either I purchase one to built on my own or too have one made. Elizabeth who was the designer was amazing and Matt the installer was great. I have nothing wrong to say about this company. Why a great experience

California Closets does not make custom closets. We have a large walk-in closet in the eave of our house and we wanted to redo the closet so we contacted California Closets. After much back and forth, we were told that they could not help us because they cannot create anything that is not a 90 degree angle/space. If they can only accommodate 90 degree angles, how is their service custom, especially for their price tags. Very disappointed.
After visiting various custom closet showrooms in NYC and much back-and-forth and deliberation with my husband and my live-in mother-in-law, we have finally decided to move forward with designs from transFORM Home (+ a super flexible ELFA system from The Container Store for the kids' room). The closets were great but our sales rep, Mindy, basically ghosted us after selling to us and the installation took more than a month! We only got an installation for our master bedroom and the people installing were great, trustworthy guys but whoever did the scheduling for them just did us dirty! From start to finish of the installation took over a month when it should have only taken 2-3 days of work. But the guys were scheduled so far apart and Mindy completed stopped picking up the phone.
From the initial phone call to the final product, everything was amazing!! My design consultant, Donna, spent two hours at my house making sure all my needs were met. She took her time with all measurements, looking at my clothes to make sure the design would be perfect! Then the installation was completed by Matt G. He was on-time, courteous, and checked in with me throughout the day if I had any questions. The final product exceeded my expectations! My closet is gorgeous and I have Donna and Matt to thank for that!!!
This is the third time we choose California Closet. As always, the designer Antonio is great. He made several great suggestions. The installer Alfredo was the best. Thank you.

Hours online and the sign on the front door say OPEN Sunday 12-5. It's 1:30pm and they're closed. Thank-you for wasting my time driving here through the brutal rt 9 traffic.
The rep mismeasured a closet which negatively impacted my storage space. after two months of emails and phone calls the resolution was unsatisfactory. they did offer a discount but it was based off of the initial invoice which cost more than what the completed product cost. one of the reps informed me that the pieces not utilized in my closet due to the mismeaurement can be shipped to me.
