If you're thinking about having California Closets install a Murphy bed for you, I'd recommend thinking twice. After paying over $2000 to get the bed and have it installed, we are selling our house and the new owners don't want it. California Closets now wants $450 to uninstall it and another $450 to put it back up. When I asked if there are any instructions or schematics for how to disassemble it, I was told they don't provide that information.
I had Tessa design my house closets and they turned out great last year. I totally remodeled my garage into a man cave. I jack-hammered out the old cracked, damp slab and wanted a new look for my new stained slab. My wife and I waited 10 years to finally build out what is a rather large closet. After meeting with CC's salesperson we decided to go ahead with the project. Our closet was installed ahead of the original schedule. Installers were courteous and efficient. Closet looks great exceeded our expectations, an overall great experience. Highly recommend.
This review is specifically for my experience in the store. I have began my consultation and had been impressed with my consultant Cygridh Rooney. I went into the store to look at the finish options in person to select a color/finish for my project. I can't name the salesperson in the store because she never gave me her name, she honestly showed no interest in helping me or answering my questions and made me feel as I was a bother. Unhappily trapped between two franchises! I live in Miami where my closets are now and building a new condo with lots of closets and an office in Ft. Lauderdale. The Miami franchise can come to my home and measure and design closets for me with a price but can't install it in Ft. Lauderdale. The Boca Raton office that covers Ft. I used California Closets in the past, and this is the prime reason I asked for their help on a special project while my husband was away. We desperately needed to change a small closet in the home to a shoe closet. Charlene Rudee was the designer who really worked hard at this. Excellent design for the room (guest/den 1/2 bath) which was a difficult space to design for as the bathroom leads into laundry. Needed the perfect built in and Kathy Bitter was just the person to design it. Also, Kathy suggested the finish for the wood that brought the room full circle. Design and installation was fine. We have enjoyed our closets for several years. But wait! Repairs? Replacement? Forget it. Regardless of which stores I called I was redirected to one person, Twila. She is the Queen of Nonresponsiveness. TWO AND ONE HALF MONTHS of infrequently returned calls and emails and an email to the corporate office (also unresponded to) later, promises of a new custom replacement piece resulted in nothing. One of my friends had California Closets done for her home and she invited me to check it out when I told her I was thinking of looking into it. Her designer Katy Milton transformed her closets and bedroom. My friend had two regular closets and this niche and Katy not only designed fantastic closets to maximize the storage she created a beautiful floor to ceiling built-in complete with cabinets and a bench for this niche full of wasted space.
