I have been to 12 Ruth Chris Steak Houses and to think they're all the same is crazy. San Diego, CA tops them all. What a disappointment with the Savannah location. Normally servers have assistants but here you see them just serving themselves by being blind to tables attention. Food took forever, we had to ask for bread, and never had a server say the bread is in the oven at a Ruth Chris! BTW who sells a house wine for 28 a glass wow I should have stuck to a well drink. To tell you the truth, I make better steaks at home! All you need is a great cut of beef , a cast-iron skillet, some rosemary, and some garlic! Ruth Chris back in the day used to be a great steakhouse , sadly, I don't find it the same anymore after several visits. Yes, the steak is good , but I would never say great. The service is definitely less than you would expect for the price .
We were in town for the St. Paddy's Day weekend, and we wanted a nice meal. The location is convenient when staying down by the river, but it's an older place, and the decor is dated. Their bread and butter and steakhouse salads were good, just like they should be. We decided to finally try this place. I love a good steak. The staff was super friendly. My husband and I both ordered the 16oz Ribeye. The steak was very good but not cooked to perfection. They came out more medium rare than medium. Not so rare that we couldn't eat. The mashed potatoes were a little too watery for my taste. So there we were, my wife and I celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. Arrived and grabbed a drink at the bar. Before being shown to our table. Keeping in mind, we reserved a specific table, number 35 -why would we know a table number?- 6 weeks prior. Ok, misunderstanding. Can't go wrong here. Excellent food. Knowledgeable, attentive staff. Great setting downstairs for a larger group. Nice drink selection. Had the filet...could have been more rare but it was great. Everything else was perfect.
I called ahead to make a reservation after driving all day from Florida. I let the person on the phone know that I've been driving all day and I would like to come in and he did not mention anything about a dress code. I walked eight blocks to get there and when we arrived, he said that he does not have any seating for us. My husband and my parents and I were here our last night visiting Savannah. We spent 5 days in town and out of all the days we were there this was the absolute best dining experience we had.
