I did receive a call from CA Closets manager Chris Reed. We talked about the review I left. Chris did offer to meet with me and discuss how they might make me happier with the installation and he did send me a check for the $640 charge I paid for having to move an electric outlet to accommodate their installation mistake. It did make me feel better that there was someone at CA Closets that was interested in having satisfied clients. California Closets did not know their product and essentially tricked me into paying for something I explicitly said I did not want. Guaranteed I would get a specific item, installed the wrong one after I paid the deposit, which included cutting/modifying my existing space. They then informed me that the product they promised does not exist. They refused to refund me my deposit and would not respond to my request to take out the wrong item and repair my space.
AWFUL. The transformer is in the corner of the closet with wires hanging out of it. It looks awful. I was told there is nothing they can do.

We went 3 times over the past month when they were supposed to be open and no one was there. Today there were 2 employees present. One was helping a client and greeted us nicely saying we'd be helped shortly. Well, she remained busy while the other employee played on the computer checking email and googling things - fully ignoring us. After 10 minutes, we left. YOU LOST OUR BUSINESS AND NEVER TO RETURN.

Horrible job! Mismeasured by half a foot and had to redo. Took weeks to complete. Drawers do not open correctly. Left garbage and pieces that they told us to throw out. Staff could not be less helpful or less knowledgeable.

I cannot speak to the quality of the closets, because scheduling someone to come to the house was a problem. It is unprofessional to text 2 hours before a scheduled appointment on a Saturday morning, then text again to confirm 30 minutes before. Not everyone is hanging on to their phone 24/7. Especially, if confirmation calls were already made during the week. Years ago, CA Closets (CAC) outfitted our Bedroom closet. We were happy with the work. This year, we moved to a seniors' community. Apartments can include built-ins at our own expense. They recommended Jackie Rivas at the CAC on Miramar Road. We were outfitting a storage room as a pantry and a den with 2 desks and tall bookcase. I'm an architect. In the pantry, I wanted the shelf to be adjustable so that once it was installed I could decide what level to put it. In the specs, despite my email, installer said it was a "fixed" shelf and in order to move it up he'd give me pins and I'd have to put the shelf in upside down. I was not happy but left it as is. After he left, I googled and voila - should be a pretty easy process to re- install the shelf 2 holes higher (whole time I was thinking if shelves are "fixed" why are there holes the complete length of the sides???).... read more

!!!PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!! Spent $7,500 on a "custom" built-in bookshelf and desk from California Closets. A major structural piece fell off on its own during normal use. No one touched it. No misuse. This wasn't cosmetic--it was heavy, installed at body height, and could have seriously injured or killed someone. I'm still shaken thinking about what would've happened if my kids were in the room. For this price point, basic safety and quality should be non-negotiable.
