No misuse. This wasn't cosmetic--it was heavy, installed at body height, and could have seriously injured or killed someone. whatever you do, do not work with Cathy. I had four done and it's not cheap obviously. She was very responsive up until I signed the contract and made my first payment. many things were delayed and installed incorrectly and when asking for her support, she would ignore me and I would have to find other resources to connect with someone in their team. I have had California Closets install several projects in two homes. Everything went as planned except for the final punch list items. They never completed it and after numerous telephone calls, I just gave up. These projects were in the six figure price range and I would have expected a better response.
It was an awful experience. Actually worse then I could have imagined. Horrible workmanship, the salesperson didn't even measure correctly. They pretended everything was fine with workmanship. Every where there is a screw they split their particleboard. It looks worse then if you had bought Home Depot prefab draws. Giving 1 star is way to generous. Run from this place
Whilst I was away, my wife surprised me with a birthday present which was getting the garage some storage space with shelves. A thoughtful gift and she used California Closets. We are very fortunate financially, but what California Closets did in our garage was not worth the price of $5000. More like $2000. I would estimate it was around $700 in wood used. I'd stay away as they're clearly a rip off for those who don't know better.
I purchased 3 built in cabinets for my primary bedroom and a murphy bed, with surrounding shelves for our guest room. We have a 1500 sq foot condo, and preparing for this work necessitated moving a mattress into our living room, while the work was going on. I was told the entire job would take one day; after arriving 1.5 hour late, the crew worked for 1.5 hours, and took a 1 hour lunch break. Very disappointed with our Saturday afternoon visit. The young lady sitting at a desk did not bother to get up from her chair to greet or welcome my wife & I into their showroom, She didn't look up from her phone to show us available finishes, discuss details or describe the features of their construction. I had California Closets installed 5 years ago in my house--I was quite happy with my closets. But this year we decided to remodel our house which required the closet systems to be removed in order for our builder to complete some work. This is where everything has gone down hill. First, I was charged $750 to remove the closet systems. The technician did not show up on the scheduled date, which caused delays to my overall remodel project. I started conversations with Luciano with California Closets San Francisco in February of this year. After my husband had an emergency health situation, I was prompted to get a murphy bed on the first floor as our bedroom is on the second floor. The project seemed simple, murphy bed attached to a simple media cabinet. Well, let's just say, we did not see the project completed until end of July!
